Covid-19 requirements for travelling to India

On 14th February 2022, the Ministry of Health and Welfare declared that COVID-19 vaccination certificates could be uploaded in place of a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR report. Moreover, for all international travellers, there are no longer such requirements as to test on arrival to India or to quarantine at home for 7 days and get a COVID-19 RT-PCR test on the 8th day of arrival. On March 27, 2022, the Indian authorities launched the international flights again, so foreign travelers are able to enter India without an essential travel purpose. There is a requirement still left: you have to self-monitor for 14 days even with a negative test. Some passengers (around 2%) may be subject to random testing on arrival at airports. You may be subject to institutional quarantine if you get a positive test. Travellers will also undergo thermal screening. If it’s found out you have COVID-19 symptoms, you may be isolated and taken to a medical facility. Children under the age of 5 years old don’t have to do COVID-19 testing before or on arrival. But if they are symptomatic, they must adhere to the instructions of the health authorities, which may require testing or mandatory quarantine.
